Autumn Term in Year 2
Hello and welcome to the first term of year 2. We are really excited about all the learning ahead!
In English, we’ll be retelling Jack and the Beanstalk and writing our own fairy tales, before moving on to focus on Pudding Lane and a setting description of London in 1666.
In Maths, we’re focusing on place value, addition and subtraction, and later on money – building confidence with numbers to 100 and number bonds.
Our Science lessons are all about animals, including humans. We’ll be thinking about healthy eating, exercise and how different animals grow and change. In History, we’ll learn about life in London in 1666, how the fire started, why it spread so quickly and its impact on the city.
Across the curriculum, we’ll be:

Developing drawing skills in Art

Exploring what IT is and how it helps us in Computing

Learning about different family types and friendships in PSHE

Discovering more about Christianity in RE
-
Building coordination, agility and teamwork in PE, alongside some exciting dance sessions
We’ll also continue to encourage a love of reading with daily books going home, along with spelling practice to support learning in class.
