Spring Term in Year 2

Hello and welcome to the first term of year 2. We are really excited about all the learning ahead!

In English, we’ll be looking at Tell Me a Dragon by Jackie Morris to start the half term. Then we will be moving on to looking at the fairy tale, Cinderella. We will be writing our own innovated versions of the tale.

In Maths, we’re focusing on multiplication and division to start with. We will be looking at making equal group and then learning the 2, 5 and 10 times table. Afterwards, we will be finding out about measures including length, height, mass and capacity.

Our Science lessons we are learning about materials! This half term we will be focusing on our enquiring skills and completing a variety of investigations to help increase our understanding of suitability and properties.

Across the curriculum, we’ll be:

Exploring and experimenting with colour in in Art
Programming Beebots and looking at algorithms in computing
Learning about health and wellbeing in PSHE
Discovering more about Islam in RE
Developing our gymnastic skills in PE.

We’ll also continue to encourage a love of reading with daily books going home which we want the children to read regularly.
