Beyond the Classroom
Wraparound Provision
Before and After-School Child Care
We currently have spaces available at both our breakfast and after-school sessions.
Application forms can be picked up from the main office or downloaded below.
Booking Wraparound Provision
After you have returned your initial application form, you must use the booking form which will be emailed across to you each week. (The only exception to this will be the booking form for September's provision, which will be emailed during the summer break).
If you do not complete the form that has been emailed across to you by the deadline, we cannot reserve a space for your child.
If your child attends an extracurricular club, their space in our wraparound care can only be reserved with booking.
Ad-hoc bookings are limited and subject to the staff-child ratio, to allow staff to provide the highest quality of care during breakfast and after-school sessions.

Young Leaders
As one of our Young Leaders children are able to develop their own leadership skills as well as enhancing the sporting experiences of others in school. They are a vital part of the play ground by inspiring others to become more active socially, physically and mentally. The Young Leaders development will be mostly through a student-centered approach where the teacher becomes the facilitator of learning rather than the leader of the activities.
Supports young people to become:
- Successful learners
- Confident individuals
- Responsible citizens
- Happy and healthy individuals
Enabling them to:
- Show a desire to improve and achieve set outcomes
- Set attainable, but desirable goals
- Identify and recognise how they contribute to pupils overall well-being and learning
- Be able to lead a series of activities for ages 6-11
- Maximise participation levels in and out of school
Throughout this scheme, pupils will be given tasks to complete following our five values: Passion, Respect, Self-Belief, Team Work and Honesty. Pupils who work hard, and complete these tasks will be rewarded with things such as a Young Leaders hoody, water bottles and possibly trips out of school.

Pupil Parliament
Great Malvern Pupil Parliament is the student voice of the school. Each class has a representative on the Pupil Parliament group with the children being voted by their peers in each class.

Our Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister are voted for by the whole school following a democratic process at the end of each Summer Term with each candidate preparing and presenting their manifesto to the whole school.
Class representatives regularly meet with their class, bringing their class views and ideas to raise for discussion at the Pupil Parliament meetings which meet weekly. At the meetings, the representatives focus on finding solutions aimed at improving the quality of school and local life including issues which impact the broader school community.
Our current Pupil Parliament are focussing on pupil well being and working with a specific focus on developing leading an Anti Bullying programme across school to identify and implement ideas which will benefit all pupils in our school community.

Eco Council

Eco Council is a group of pupils who meet each month to discuss eco friendly and environmental issues within school which prepares children to live their future lives with consideration for global issues. There is one eco councillor from each class in Key Stage 1 and 2.

- To ensure our school is eco-friendly and prepares pupils to live with reflection of the environment.
- To make sure each class has a platform to voice their opinions.
- To discuss and raise issues related to the environment

We are looking at supporting and encouraging our local wildlife this year. We have worked alongside the RSPB to put up more bird feeders in our school environment and are looking to encourage more birds throughout the seasons. We shared this with the whole school and are in the process of setting up a live feed from one of our donated bird boxes.
Reading Ambassadors
We value the views of our children about their school experiences and their learning. This year we have expanded our small team of Year 6 pupils, who are our designated Reading Ambassadors, with pupils from Year 5 to allow for greater role continuity year on year. The Reading Ambassador position is a coveted role which the children apply for.
Typically, our Reading Ambassadors are responsible for monitoring the library and keeping it organised, reading with younger children in school to promote reading for pleasure, and promoting reading across school by taking part in events such as World Book Week. New initiatives are planned for this coming year including opportunities to contribute to School Library displays and a new School Library newsletter.
In addition, this year will see all our Reading Ambassadors taking part in the Library Ambassador Programme in partnership with Worcestershire Libraries. This exciting opportunity will allow our Reading Ambassadors to develop new skills, and build their confidence, independence and leadership skills. They will meet regularly with staff from Malvern Library to organise reading activities for their fellow pupils to promote a love of reading.
The programme also has the aim of developing a strong relationship between the school and it’s local public library, and to raise awareness of library services across the whole school community.
Mental Health Ambassadors
The Great Malvern Mental Health Ambassadors provide opportunities for any child to talk to them about their wellbeing. They have been introduced in assembly and all wear badges so they can be identified by children throughout the day should they want support. They are currently working on modelling how to recognise and verbalise feelings and are taking the role of co-adventurer for children in the drop in clinic and throughout the school. The role of the Mental Health Ambassadors is to provide comfort, normalise these feelings and to sign post children to adults within school.
